Some vineyards, such as that of Haut-Brion, are situated in the suburbs of the city of Bordeaux. To this day, urbanisation forms a real threat to the vineyards.  In fact, many have, unfortunately, been wiped off the map altogether.

Pessac-Léognan wines have a specific character, with their earthly aromas and hints of tobacco and black fruit.

The white wines - mainly produced with the sauvignon blanc and sémillon grapes - are typified by a note of ripe white fruit and soft wood touches. The wines hailing from this region are both elegant and spirited.
